In einem Policy Briefing macht der Secretary General sehr klar wie zentralisiert sich die UN einen neue Internet Governance Struktur vorstellt. Um es mit Konstantinos Worten zu sagen:
„frankly, I really am looking forward to the day the UN attempts to ‘demand’ things from an organization like the IETF.“

The #GlobalDigitalCompact is expected to “outline shared principles for an open, free and secure digital future for all”. The @UNTechEnvoy is accepting inputs for the Compact's final text until April 30th.

The UN Secretary General‘s Tech Envoy Amandeep Singh Gill is in town today and tomorrow. We organized several meetings for him to meet with different German stakeholders (also non- governmental ones). He is consulting with all of us to collect substance for the #GlobalDigitalCompact (to be presented next year as part of the Summit for the Future #SOTF ) His (and our) main concern is to use digital transformation as a means to reach the Sustainable Development Goals

@sgdickinson yes, absolutely! I’d love to see equal amounts of funding going to other regional efforts. It’s frustrating to see so many voices continuously drowned out. 🤞 you’re right about #GlobalDigitalCompact !

@cathleen 2/ Repeatedly focusing on "what works" for WEOG & expecting it to work equally well for countries in vastly diff situations must be very frustrating for developing countries. They keep being told these frameworks are good for them, but they don't have the ability to participate in the plethora of Western-focused/based forums & processes producing such recommendations. I guess it's why I'm increasingly hoping the #GlobalDigitalCompact results in meaningful outcomes for all.

3/ While #OECD does some great work, its members are mostly developed countries. Could outputs from the proposed OECD Global Forum on Technology Governance end up reinforcing developed vs developing country divisions in their approaches to tech?

The proposed Forum could certainly help to embed democratic values within tech policies of its member states. In contrast, the proposed UN #GlobalDigitalCompact has a different, global advantage: developing country buy-in to its development & goals.

2/ I'm wondering how the proposed #OECD

Global Forum on Technology Governance will intersect/align with the Declaration for the Future of the Internet that many OECD member states have signed onto:
