By not taking a side in the (many) conflicts in Myanmar, China is maintaining the chaos and atrocities happening there. They give a half-hearted statement about Myanmar should solve Myanmar's problems, but they fail to distinguish who they consider Myanmar to be. Does China recognize Myanmar's military rule? Or do they support the actual people of Myanmar? I'd imagine the former. They only care about their trade routes.

So an international incident involving an oil ship that consists of Indian crewmembers, is Turkish-managed, is Chinese owned, and was bound for the United States was created just to grab some leverage on the west? What a headache!

This is what we need to be pushing for. I'm definitely a proponent of expanding trade, BUT we have to do it in a way that ensures the security and dignity of people in the developing world and that ensure the security of our planet.

This is not the 1990's, and we should be approaching trade deals in the same manner. This goes for every country around the globe

Central planning for society often doesn't pan out the way you'd expect. Zero-Covid past the availability of vaccines is one example. In the coming decades, the effects of One-Child Policy are going to be tremendous.

My grandparents on one side emigrated from China in the 1930s. That was a lucky decision, it seems. For a Chinese person to have no siblings, cousins, nieces/nephews is unimaginable, but that's going to be the reality for many in the 21st century because of the CCP's policies of the 20th century.
