Interesting paper about the role of ST6GAL1 in prostate cancer. ST6GAL1 is upregulated in prostata cancer tissue resulting in large branched alpha-2,6 sialylated N-glycans. Secreted ST6GAL1 as a remodeller of glycans on other cells?

Protein tyrosine phosphatase receptor Z (PTPRZ), highly expressed in glioblastoma, contains unique HNK-1-capped O-Man core M2 glycans synthesized by GLcNac-transferase IX. Disruption of GNT-IX gene reduces the glioblastoma growth.

At last! New data show that SARS-CoV-2 (Omicron in particular) preferentially infects blood group A cells. Receptor binding domain (RBD) of SARS-CoV-2 shows similarity to several galectins and binds better to ACE2 with A blood group antigen. tinyurl.com/47w7rumu
