Didn’t get to play a #GMLess #13thAge session yesterday, as partner wasn’t feeling well because of the heat. Hoping we will have more time to play when we go on holiday soon. We did play a bit of Baldurs Gate 3, the Grymforge area is annoying, can’t wait to get out of there.

It was our first go at a #GMLess game, and our first time playing together since the pandemic.

It was fun. My partner was surprised how useful the oracle was and how it helped the game progress.

Looking forward to the second session. (6/6)

My partner and I have Elven characters. And I have just remembered that we forgot our racial ability, which would have been useful in the first combat! Lol, it’s been a while since we played 13th Age, we are allowed to make mistakes. At least we remembered miss damage.

I’ve been doing #SoloRPG so have the #MythicGMEmulator, which is a table that gives you yes/no answers in place of a GM. There are also tables which give you an adjective and noun phrase, that you use as a prompt for ideas.

Random tables will provde other events/encounters/items etc

I think the #GMLess game will be similar to the #SoloRPG but easier as there will be another player to bounce off.

What is folk’s experience of #GMLess Rpgs?

Not looking for recommendations of games but would appreciate tips / thinks you have learnt, or just feedback on how you found it.

Partner hasn’t roleplayed since start of covid, and didn’t get on with online play or when we tried 1:1 playing. She is up for given GM less a go as she is missing the dice.

If there is a drawback – and this is now a drawback in my gameplaying selection – it's that it is not a GMless game. It is very much a GMd game. With a little hacking you could probably make it #GMless leveraging some awesome oracles and that sort of thing.

But in terms of intelligence density, in terms of just being a really SMART game? It's top of the pile.

@empathy @renegaderich And then there are GM-less games where everyone is responsible for narrative control at various points. The "Belonging Outside Belonging" and "Firebrands Framework" familes of games all do that. Other GM-less RPGs include Fall of Magic (Heart of the Deernicorn), Lovecraftesque (Black Armada Games), Desperation, Fiasco (both Bully Pulpit Games), and The Final Girl (Gas Mask Games). I recomnend all of the above!

I tried playing #TheGroundItself for the first time recently.

After the game, we tried to figure out why we the world we created eventually developed hierarchies, oppression, and war. We didn't start it that way, and the rules of the game certainly didn't push us there.

I don't think we found a satisfying answer. We weren't capable of imagining a #utopia that night.

But I want to do better next time.

I did poorly in both games of Dominare, but I did better than the designer both times.

We made it Home to tragedy. I knew we should have just settled down elsewhere.

$7000 Movie was a glorious disaster, with time travel, robot Abraham Lincoln, and a zombie.

Snickersnee turned into a Cohen brothers film.

A guy asked about GMless games in an Rpg Zine facebook group I’m in. I wish I was surprised at some of the hostile and rude responses. I get it that GMless isn’t to everyone’s taste, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t role-playing games.

Anyway, on a positive note, what are your favorite GMless games?

Mine is definitely Praxis Black Monk. It’s a bit dark and weird, but I’ve really enjoyed every time I’ve had a chance to play it.
