Why boxes have 2 versions on ubuntu software? #gnomeboxes

Last night, I successfully used #FreeBSD in #gnomeboxes without any issues, but encountered compatibility problems with the #swaywm config in #i3 which was expected. Also, will need to refer back to the handbook to re-learn some stuff.

@cybersoldier @tuxi usually moderate: several docker instances ( #pihole , #plantuml ), #vscode +#neivim with whatever technology I'm dabbling in at the moment, #obsidian for notes and #firefox for reading up.

On occasion... I'll spin up #minikube to try and give up again on #kubernetes . If I'm messing with exotic stuff... Weird distro, desktop extension dabbling, etc. I spin up a #gnomeboxes VM, which uses #qemu under the hood.

Why using closed source VMware if #QEMUKVM provides the similar functionality with very high performance and easy interfaces like #virtmanager or #gnomeboxes

Ich hab ja generell kein schnelles Internet, doch heute ist es einfach mal besonders lahm.

Hab zumindest #ubuntu und #fefora herunterladen können und gleich in #gnomeboxes installiert. Morgen noch #opensuse , dann kann ich mit dem Kurs fortfahren.

@aegilops #Vala seems to be where #Gnome-based software was going before people had terrible ideas about #JavaScript bindings or decided that C was "good enough".

It brings all the benefits of a modern C#-like language while retaining all of the horrors of having to debug using GDB and understanding some of what it transpiled down to under the hood!

#Shotwell, #Geary and #GnomeBoxes are Vala apps. But I probably first saw it in #Zeitgeist and #Synapse.

Probando #PureOS en #Virtualbox descubrí #GnomeBoxes (instalada allí por defecto), un app de virtualización que no solo simplifica mucho esa faceta para un usuario poco experimentado, sino que además va mucho más fluido que VBox, además de configurar la resolución de pantalla automáticamente.

Como bonus extra permite seleccionar la distribución de linux que uno quiere probar y descargarla sobre la marcha.
