have you ever tried livi by @agx ?
This may be a completely stupid question coming from someone who only ever saw the PP{,P}, L5, OP6{, T}'s

Yeah, I find that #UbuntuTouch has one of the nicest shells on #MobileLinux, but the fewest decent apps (although some of the basics are very nice). Also not a fan of how many apps require full system access (eg a basic mail app!)
While it's far uglier, #Phosh seems to have the best collection of apps (which can also be run under #PlasmaMobile and vice versa).
I'm really looking forward to playing with #GnomeMobile though. The videos look very promising!

Sure, if you can make it work I would love to talk to you then!
We are also hanging out on matrix in our project room: #froscon-linux-mobile:matrix.org
There are no bridges set up, sorry IRC and XMPP users, you will have to come by in person!
Yesterday we had somewhere between 15-25 (?) participants during lightning talks and the #phosh #community get together!

I've just seen this picture in the #Gnome mobile shell page on GitLab and for some reason it made me very happy.

@linmob And just to reiterate, we need help from as many people as possible to make Linux's mobile advancements easily visible and inspiring to all, so please, boost, boost, boost the post above!
Also, more hashtags to help reach more of you beautiful nerds across this wide ol' fediverse 😉 :
#DanctNIX #PinePhonePro #PlasmaMobile #PlaMo #Kirigami #GnomeMobile #MauiKit #Maui #MauiShell #SXMO #NemoMobile #PineTab #Angelfish #Megapixels #Millipixels

I'm very interested in following any news related to #linuxphone / #linuxmobile / #gnomemobile / #phosh but the small problem is that there is no one hashtag everyone uses, and yet worse, many people don't even use hashtags.
Can you please use one hashtag to make it easier for people to follow the developments?

postmarketOS v23.06 is the latest version of the Alpine Linux-based operating system, with support for 31 devices (mostly phones and tablets. It's the first stable build with a GNOME Mobile option, as well as Phosh, KDE Plasma, and Sxmo. https://postmarketos.org/blog/2023/06/07/v23.06-release/

postmarketOS v23.06 is out, thanks to everybody who contributed! 🚀 :postmarketos:
* @alpinelinux 3.18
* First time including @gnome Shell on Mobile!
* Phosh 0.27
* @plasmamobile 5.27.5
* Sxmo 1.14.0
* Lots of improvements to GNOME Software
* USB tethering
* Translations & locale improvements
* Installer: minimum pass len changed from 8 to 6 characters
* @PINE64 Pinebook Pro: backlight control and audio works by default
* And lots more!
@krafter Should be in stable, but I highly recommend getting pmOS edge installed on a separate SD card. Makes it much easier to try out and switch back if anything were to go wrong.
Besides, verdre's changes are constantly coming (It's not just Jonas working on getting the gnome stack playing nicely on mobile, but I know he's doing a lot of the work). So you really want to stay on the bleeding edge if you want to experience #gnomemobile at it's best.
PSA: This weeks Weekly #MobileLinux Update will be delayed by one day.
Sorry about this - if you don't know what to do tonight, watch the #LAS2023 live recordings - the #GNOMEMobile session is excellent!

@bart @andyholmes @verdre This is awesome. Still I don't really know what the right packages to install to get the best experience for #gnomemobile for example. This is why #postmarketos installer is really cool. It gets you the right packages for your device. It would be very helpful if PostmarketOS Wiki had a page for PCs with instructions on how to get the same experience. This will cover all convertible and detachable devices that have the same desktop architecture.
@andyholmes @verdre Thank you so much for your answer. It's a convertible laptop that I use as a tablet but it runs computer stuff, so if #gnomemobile can work on computers, it'll work for me. I don't think #postmarketos support computers, although it would be so cool if they did.
@andyholmes
Hey! You're the one behind #valent! Awesome work.
When it comes to stability #phosh is an obvious winner, but that's not all I'm looking for. I wan't the aesthetics, smoothness and functionality of #gnome, and I think that only #gnomemobile will do that on a tablet. I can absolutely do with an unstable system. It's not my main device and I want to use it for experiments but my building-from-source abilities are not there yet.
#valent #phosh #gnome #gnomemobile
I only need a good system for tablets. I tried to build #gnomemobile both on #manjaro and #fedora but came across errors I didn't know how to fix. When will Gnome mobile be merged?
@agx
Thank you so much for responding and thank you for your great work on #phosh. Squeekboard never showed up at all. I do use favorites and indeed it works. I managed to turn the filter off thanks to @linmob and I'm not giving up on Phosh anytime soon. I'll try again with #fedora and maybe I can get #gnomemobile to work there.
But if the main goal for #Phosh is to be as lightweight as possible then it would be too much to ask for tablet support too. I'm not sure about the scope of the project or its future after #gnomemobile is released but I wish it continues to provide a more lightweight yet elegant alternative for the full #gnome shell.

8. Animations.
8.1. It would be cool to have the quick settings menu animate as people pull it down and up not at once as when it's clicked.
I love #gnome and I use it on my main laptop but for a tablet, it has much to improve before the experience can be reliable. I think this might improve a lot when the work on #gnomemobile is merged and I wish there is a way to use it now as people do on #linuxphone.
(Please #arch people, make an #aur package for gnome mobile)

3. Tablet mode
3.1. It can be very helpful to have a separate experience considering touch as the main input. Tablet mode should start all apps maximized and allow for a more reliable way to open on-screen keyboard and an easier war to get to the overview and switch between apps (basically #gnomemobile)
