#OTD The first #Groundhog Day was celebrated in #GobblersKnob, PA.

Today the mother of all groundhog celebrations is held in #Punxsutawney w/ the groundhog Punxsutawney Phil as the star attraction. For spring 2023, Phil forecasts 6 more weeks of #Winter to enjoy.

In 1678, #Naturalist John Ray wrote a popular #Poem for this day:

If #Candlemas day be fair & bright
Winter will have another flight.

If Candlemas day has showers & rain
Winter is gone & will not come again.
