It became impossible to deny the existence of some sort of cosmic karma was at work here. A balancing of scales unknown of in the mortal realm. Everything was so mundane in so many facets. The air was heavy with pollution. The alleys were rife with poverty and everything had the dull sheen indicating a lack of magic. Perhaps Tibbleton had overlooked a higher power while being content to fleece the lesser.

His horns cracked against the stones along the riverbed as his body flipped end over end in the under current. What little air he had snatched expelled through his nose. The rope dug into his wrists as the noose trailed behind him like a waterlogged kite tail. Disorientated, drowning, and desperate.

A new Primacy is heralded by their mount they ride into ceremony. The Empress of Night is demanding a steed to be summoned even though every throne of the Coterie of the Moon is occupied. This means one of two things. The Empress has gone mad from the strain of protecting the market. Or one of the Primacies is going to suddenly vacate their position. Most likely by forcible removal or death.

I've always 'gender and ethnicity bent' my characters while writing adventures. However, becoming a father has helped me realize representation matters EVERYWHERE. Including RPGs.

You wouldn't notice it though. 'Shockingly' it plays out mostly the same. Englishmen become Egyptian women, femme fatales become transgender water spirits, and orphan Logan becomes Mary Logan, daughter of the murdered Pirate Queen.

I'm finding it's always more fun/easiest to write the second adventure of a trilogy. Not being constrained by silly things like logical backstory or 'satisfying endings'. Just havoc and mayhem!

They seem to be the darkest as well. My working scene header is Drowning Orphans.

The duke earned the title by capturing the Pirate Queen. He relishes his moniker as it refers to his preferred method of execution. Drowning. He has wed five times. Each ceremony a grim affair full of tears and empty words. Each bride missing by the end of the honeymoon.
