Finally opened #Godot4 and followed the Updated Documentation and now made a moving character. Now I need to figure out how to make mouse camera pans and fix the stupid movement bugs. Then I can begin the fun part.
Alright here’s some things that annoy me in #Godot, first why are instanced nodes added as children sharing resources, that confused me for so long due to every hit box changing when I only change one in the program, Second, why do some functions not auto fill such as collisionshape2d.add_shape(), and finally what’s up with the file selector, it doesn’t work well and apparently the native selector isn’t implemented, sort of a usability issue, still a good engine however. #Godot4 #GodotEngine
Doing complex string formatting to make our "random shipping jobs" was something I was concerned about when moving from UE to #Godot4, and it went way better than I expected.

The documentation is very clean, very easy to use.
The new job board for #SmugglersOfCygnus is all built. It's probably not a fair comparison with UE4, since when I made this with UE after taking classes and having published 2 games, while in Godot I've only done 1 game jam.
So it taking the whole month of Feb in UE4 and under 24 hours in #Godot4 is just coincidence.
The UI colors are also user themable.

You can use an SVG sheet as an atlas texture in #Godot4 ????
The effort this just saved me on my workflow is like *hours*
It also perfectly autosliced my huge SVG master sheet of shipper logos for #SmugglersOfCygnus and the output is *super* crispy.
I'm so impressed with doing more complicated UI stuff in #Godot4 vs UE4, that native SVG support is really impressive.
I'm able to do stuff I had to come up with hackish workarounds for.
Very tempted to just blame Windows 11, but everything else works and #godot doesn't. Like it doesn't work at all. I can't even create a project. I've never seen the software this broken. The basic UI, as in I'm not even in the editor yet is incapable of processing mouse events. WTF????
