Updating my socials… My first day as a FORMER Civil Air Patrol guy.

I initially joined the CAP on 03 Apr 1987 as a Cadet. Aged out of that program, but came back as an officer after 9/11.

Altogether, 30 years in the uniform. #goflyCAP

That’s it. Last day as a CivilAirPatrol officer.

Excited to be moving on to the work for AFWERX + AFResearchLab.

I’m grateful for all I that learned, the things I got to do, and all the amazing friends I made along the way. It was one helluva ride.

I finally passed 1,000hrs TT. It took a lot longer than I planned thanks to unforeseen delays like weather, maintenance and life. Feeling lucky! Pic is departing Charleston, SC (KCHS) after flying young teens all day as part of Accelerating the Legacy. We had 25 aircraft, pilots & many support staff & we flew nearly 150 participants. As much as the controllers didn’t love us, they did an incredible job with near non-stop ops. The #USAF personnel that spent the whole day on the ramp in the cold keeping us moving safely were the hero’s of the event. Yesterday I went for my first ride in a GA-8 Airvan. It’s been in maintenance for nearly two years. They finally got everything working and put in a all new avionics. I can’t wait to get signed off and start flying it around the state. #avation #AvGeek #pilot #flying #GoFlyCAP #CAP

I finally had the chance to complete my mission pilot evaluation and I’m now fully qualified. It’s been nearly two years since I started the training but unfortunately, it hasn’t been my flying priority. The flying I get to do with CAP is some of the most enjoyable and rewarding I do.
