I guess the proof that HHGTTG is my defining reading experience is the way I relate EVERYTHING to it. For example, I'm reading "Cut Throat" for & come across the phrase in shot 1. instantly, literally that instant, I think of the passage in shot 2 @bookstodon

I know people who are very defensive abot their inordinately fast reading speeds, insisting they miss nothing. For me, I've been making a conscious effort to slow down over the last month or two. I discovered that even light leisure reading, like the I prefer, can be MUCH more enjoyable if I meander along at the sort of pace it seems the authors intended. In that era especially, the journey was more important than the destination.

My 2022 YouTube Music recap nicely illustrates why I don't like audiobooks - I live in silence. most of even this very small total was in a few chunks and almost all was while I - a Beethoven symphony cycle while reading at home or Nina & Dinah while reading as a passenger in the car.
