Massive Congratulations to @michaelrosenyes, #Goldsmiths colleague and all-round wonderful, humane and courageous person, who has been awarded the 2023 PEN Pinter Prize, for what judges called a “fearless” body of work that provides a “lesson in humanity.”

Here's a #postcard of Goldsmiths, University of London - back in the day I was Registrar & Secretary here, and it still has a special place in my heart - a totally impossible place but it always brings a smile to my face

It was founded by the Company of #Goldsmiths in the City of London, so is properly Goldsmiths' College (note the #apostrophe) but the #punctuation was routinely missing or wrong, and was dropped from the branding in the 1990s

I landed up in #gold research by accident, but do feel it's my home!

My great grandad, George Briault, was last in line of father to son #goldsmiths & diamond setters going back to at least 1720s when arrived as Huguenot refugees from France. George helped set diamonds in the crown jewels.

George was amazing! Veggie & member of #vegetarian cycling association, he held various #cycling records, including London to Brighton *and back* in 6hrs 8m 25s - in 1908...on a pushbike...in tweed! ❤️

Much of what I do with #IronAge #Gold involves working with #goldsmiths & #craftspeople & thanks to this I know some of the best!

My torc-partner-in-crime, Roll Williamson, isn't on here, but he makes incredible #replicas for #Reenactors #museums or private #commissions. His #website is below...

Would also #recommend wonderful friends @PottedHistory @sallypointer @JamesDilley for truly excellent #archaeological replicas, talks, classes etc...

They're around 2300 years old which is pretty incredible - #goldsmiths back then were creating some truly fabulous things!
