0°C = water turns to ice
100°C = water turns to steam
-40°C = -40°F
Who the heck came up with 32°F for freezing and 212°F for evaporating?
Oh yes, the same people who came up with 12 inches to a foot, 3 feet to a yard, 1760 yards to a mile, etc etc. Total Hogwash, lol
Perhaps a way to get holdouts to accept the metric system would be to transitionally allow them to say unnecessarily complicated things like “12⅝ centimeters.”
In the 70's, we learned both the Imperial and Metric Systems of Measurement and consequently are unfamiliar with either system.
