My first time enjoying Pease Lake in the Highlands. 2019.
My friend, Lyrica, introduced me to this lake 🥰 We've been back a few times since this day. We took a small inflatable boat out & paddled to far end of lake. There was only 4 other people at lake at other end.

30 years ago today, a bus full of students from 🇭🇺 arrived to Haarlemmermeer. Ruud, my host took my on a bike rack to their home. A life long friendship started with their family in Nieuw-Vennep with numerous family visits in 🇳🇱 and 🇭🇺.

Back in high school (in the age of Kelty external frame packs or nothing), we of course made pemmican before doing any long stretches of the #AppalachianTrail
If I recall correctly, my local Appalachian Mountain Club chapter taught how to make it

I did the northern third of the AT all alone over 2 months, with a 70lb pack of rice and pemmican to supplement my foraging and fishing

@Mrfunkedude hah! It's funny you should say that. When we were young he would fuss at us for things he thought he should fuss at us for but which secretly tickled him. We could tell because if he was *really* pissed his ears would turn red. When he actually was proud or thought it was funny, we would always just shrug and say at the end of the lecture, "You raised us!" which of course would crack him up even more but he'd have to fuss us out again pro forma.
