The reason that Jesus used a Samaritan in the parable of the #GoodSamaritan was because Samaritans were a despised minority.

If Jesus were telling that parable today's USA, the main character might be a Good Immigrant or a Good Trans-person. One of the points of the parable was teaching his followers not to be bigots when it came to "other" types of people.

Kudos to the ladies who stopped to help an older lady just next to our bookshop today. Turned out to be one of our regulars, who had taken a nasty tumble.

We got her out of the cold, into the bookshop sofa, hot cuppa and talk to her until she was okay to go home. One of the ladies who helped her in the street even phoned the bookshop later to make sure she was okay, which was a lovely thing to do.
