Speaking of focus. I’m still looking for a GTD app that works the way I want it to. GoodTask is really close., but it doesn’t have a web view/API, which restricts it. I may have to write my own.
After 15 months, I've ended my experiment with #CraftApp.
It had a lot of potential, but I feel the promises made to the user community and not finishing half completed features, got pushed aside for more business focused features.
I still have 9 months left until it renews again, so I'll keep an eye on their updates.
In the mean time, I've moved everything back to #AppleNotes and #AppleReminders (using #Goodtask as the front end).
I just wish the Notes team would just fix it so I could grab a link to a note or folder without having to fake invite myself with a secondary personal email...

@coffee_please @pkm This is very helpful. Thank you!
I am probably going to use manual methods for now. Kind of K.I.S.S. I am also reluctant to pay a subscription unless in my use case brings clear value.
For now, I am using Apple Clock, which puts a countdown in my menubar. I am also setting up a #pomodoro focus mode which I will switch on to minimise distractions.
I think for scheduling and bundling of tasks, I can tag and manage this in #GoodTask
I might outgrow this, but we will see!
@pkm Community - does anyone use an app in the Apple ecosystem that supports #pomodoro time management?
Because I work remote most of the time, I have increasingly done time blocking and pomodoro to focus on blocks of tasks or significant pieces of work.
Currently I use #GoodTask because it integrates tightly with Apple calendars and reminders. I would rather stay integrated and for now, I just have a smart list and use an Apple countdown timer.
Suggestions welcomed! #PKM #productivity

@pkm #pkm community, does anyone have experience with #setapp? I have never taken a look at it because I try to keep my applications weeded out, using the less is more philosophy.
With that said, seeing that #ulysses is included and that is $39 / year on its own subscription, I started looking at the other apps that I already use - currently #busycal #busycontacts #goodtask #houdahspot #netspot and #Hookmark
So where is the break even point in consolidating?

I used #Todoist and #Omnifocus, both extremely good, but I wanted something that was tightly baked into OSX. #Goodtask hit the sweet spot of giving me more features over #Reminders alone.
I can open my week view in #BusyCal and see the flow of tasks due each day against my calendars. Tasks also appear in #agenda app for my time based notes. Location based reminders, share sheet and Siri work great.
#todoist #omnifocus #goodtask #reminders #busycal #agenda
@Colman @andricheli @nickfoster @donovanpalmer @markmcelroy Dear everyone using #GoodTask: what feature means the most to you, that Reminders/Calendar doesn't provide? What wouldn't you be able to do if GoodTask disappeared?
@Colman @ellane @nickfoster @andricheli @markmcelroy
The recent updates to #reminders reduces the necessity of #goodtask for sure.
To make matters worse, I only use a portion of its power features.
In the end I think the reason I keep using Goodtask is because I like the layout of the quick actions.
#reminders #goodtask #productivity
@donovanpalmer @andricheli @Colman @markmcelroy yes!! I never hear anyone talk about #GoodTask but it’s incredible! The idea of using an app as a “client” and Apple Reminders as a backend lets you use all the benefits of deep system integration, but with a much better UI
@andricheli @Colman @nickfoster
I agree. I use tasks sparingly in #Obsidian to flag my attention to pages or notes that need to be finished or completed, but I would never keep my entire task list there.
For everything else I use Apple Reminders (with #GoodTask as a front end). It integrates into Siri and I can create a task out of most things using the share sheet function. Tasks are pushed to #Agenda and #Busycal
I agree with @markmcelroy sometimes dedicated tools are better.
#obsidian #goodtask #agenda #busycal
For sure! Definitely some rabbit holes and I only use a fraction of the features. 🫤
I could probably get away with Apple Reminders, but I do like the #goodtask interface.
@everything I am a very big fan of #goodtask - integrates into everything apple and can hold its own with the other task managers out there.
GoodTask and Reminders
Before Apple added Smart Lists, and many other features, to Reminders there was GoodTask. GoodTask has used Reminders as it's sync system for a number of years, and then layered a bunch of excellent features on top of Reminders to make it a very powerful task management system.
If you use SetApp then GoodTasks is available there with your subscription.
