I'm sitting in a tiny local coffee shop that houses another little shop, looking out at our #pedestrianstreet — a rare #carfree space!

Yet all I can think of, in my little paradise in #Montreal, is the lightning-fast #gentrification that brought this borough where it is.

The fact that in another life, if I hadn't broken the cycle, I'd be the one getting #renovicted with nowhere to go. ... And in another decade, maybe I will be.
The fact that #goodurbanism is a privilege.

1) Build to the edge of the plot.
2) Ban motor vehicles.
3) 3 floor limit.
4) Plots to owner builders only, no developers allowed.
5) Courtyards not park.
6) Profane bldgs. in the vernacular, sacred and public buildings in the classical.
