Weirdly enough... #redditMigration pushed me to #kbin first, then #lemmy due to the availability of apps (I find them more convenient), then got me curious enough to explore #mastodon (been loving it.. learned a lot of interesting things here).

At the same time, the #privacy news about #smartcars and #cars in general, #googlechrome privacy concerns, etc. Have made me re-acknowledge the privacy risks of smart tvs. #raspberrypizero #dongle with #PlasmaBigscreen would be cool.

Con la flagante intromisión de #GoogleChrome en la #privacidad podemos hacer dos cosas

1. Cambiarlo por otro navegador

2. Desactivar las tres opciones de chrome://settings/adPrivacy

Mi opción hace años fue la primera cuando era un monstruo come-recursos que mataba el rendimiento de todos mis equipos.

Volví a #Firefox y no he vuelto a mirar atrás.

An important thing that's missed with the whole #GoogleChrome ad problem is that many critical services depend on that browser.

Most users aren't going to juggle two browsers. Most people don't have the time to invest technical skill in spoofing user agents.

They want to be able to have remote video visits with their physician. They still want to take online classes, and pass online tests. Guess what browser is "required"?

We need to do more than shame people into switching to #Firefox.

Since there is a lot of chatter about abandoning Chrome: can somebody please explain to me, why one would ever choose Chrome over Firefox? I've been using Firefox since 2005 and never missed anything or had any severe issues. There simply never was a reason to switch, esp not to Chrome. I genuinely don't get it.

I only have Chrome installed today because I'm compelled to use some broken-by-design web apps like MSTeams that won't work on Firefox.
