Who knew it was still alive? As someone who grew up with Usenet, I feel a slight tinge of sadness, but not much. There are plenty of other ways to have discussions on the net and the user interface is usually better.

@laravista Sure. Well it depends on your needs and where you was using Google Groups for..? I noticed developers were using Groups for interaction with their users, that can be moved to GitHub issues or GitLab issues I think.

If you actually want to keep the benefit of indexing the content, you can also try to setup a forum, for example: https://www.discourse.org/.

If you don't mind NOT getting indexed (by Google) you could try to move to Slack or Matrix chat.

Epilogue: In 2001 #Google bought the #DejaNews #Usenet archive and folded it into #GoogleGroups, but less than a decade later Groups was alternating between usability-destroying tweaks and utter neglect. People still use Groups, but IMHO Deja News should have a gravestone on @codyogden ’s https://killedbygoogle.com

@utdbrent I had forgotten that about Mozilla! Most of my #Usenet reading was earlier, from 1980s #WesleyanU mainframe terminals, or PCs emulating VT-100s... and much later #GoogleGroups became a NewsGroup reader, including archival collections.
