Z.B. sind die größten #Spamschleuder|n (#Outlook.com / #Azure #HostedExchange, #GMail / #GoogleMail & #YahooMai) extrem beschissen wenn's um #eMails geht und ignorieren sang- und klanglos eMails von Servern die nicht deren absurden und fre ierfundenen Regeln entsprechen, verweigern sich aber auf Beschwerden an deren abuse@ - eMail-Adresse zu reagieren.

Last week I set up my new #protonmail. I'm slowly phasing out my #googlemail and switching all my accounts.
What I have noticed is that I was basically living in a walled garden, not noticing how gmail is actually not that special in 2023 (or probably since a while).
Gmail was amazing and revolutionary back in 2004, but right now it seems that protonmail can easily challenge gmail when it comes to available features but also in terms of phantastic UX/UI.

A replacement for #GoogleMaps might be a combination of different apps but I haven't looked into that too much yet.

#GoogleMail will be the final boss that has been feeding on me since 2004. I haven't decided which alternative to go for, but changing the email in tons of apps, onlineshops and services will be a huge pita. I might as well start using #protonpass at the same time and hand out proxy mail addresses 🤓

Years ago (before becoming more privacy-sensitive #infosec) I got a #googlemail #gmail account.

Apparently I can't use it anymore with my email client (#thunderbird) without giving Google my mobile phone number. Which I won't.

❓ What email provider would you recommend, that does not do shady things with my data?

It should work with an email client, which excludes web-interface-only providers. Preferably free if possible, but I am okay with paying a service I can trust.
