Ih bin Abonnent des Digitalangebots der #sueddeutschezeitung. Ich blocke dort unglaublich viele Quellen und habe angefragt, ob das Angebot nicht auch #datenschutz freundlicher / datensparsamer ausgespielt werden könne.

Die Antwort ist für mich frappierend. Dieneste, dich *immer* blocke (z.B. #googletagmanager) werden von der #sueddeutsche als "unbedingt erforderlich" angesehen.

How about starting on the *social* part by *removing* #GAFAM from the https://www.eua.eu website? Currently both #Cloudflare and #GoogleTagManager are 3rd party websites that people without #uMatrix or #uBlockOrigin risk connecting to there.

And better *not* give hidden URLs (bit.ly/...); these encourage unsafe web browsing; "Check before you click!" A URL in out-of-the-box Mastodon counts for 23 characters no matter how long.

My latest article covers a "cookieless" scenario on server-side #GoogleTagManager, where you might want to prevent the #GoogleAnalytics4 Client from accessing the FPID cookie under certain conditions.

For example, you might want to support FPID only for a subset of all GA4 measurement IDs collected by server-side GTM, or you might want to prevent FPID access when a custom consent setting requires so.

In #Basel gibt es ein neues #Kulturmagazin, das von der #CMS-Stiftung finanziert wird. Es ist interessant, aber leider werden Besuchende über die Einbindung von #GoogleFonts und den #GoogleTagManager beim Aufruf der Website direkt an #Google gemeldet. #Cookies können zudem nur akzeptiert, aber nicht abgewählt werden.
Ein neues Beispiel von #Dateninkontinenz und #PrivacyNaivität, die leider auch in #Kultur- und #NGO-Kreisen weit verbreitet ist.
Der gute Zweck entbindet nicht von Verantwortung!

In this case Matomo is tracking data from the same #GoogleTagManager code that Google Analytics uses. So if any visitor is using something to block Javascript trackers like GTM it should affect how both services report traffic.

What I would ideally like to do is get our organisation to host Matomo locally and set it up to read events directly from the web server. So no need for cookies at all.

I really like Matomo's focus on privacy. Wish it supported secondary dimension though!

Turns out, they turned on call tracking which modifies the DOM and redirects all calls through a tracking number via #GoogleTagManager - which I really wish #Google would make more explicit.
