Now the same people are once again deficit hawks. The change of party in power couldn’t possibly have anything to do with it. No sirree!

@davidmiller Planning to drastically cut IRS spending was a foreseeable move by the "Republican" corporate lobbyists benefitting serial tax evaders like Trump, Musk & many other "GOP"-affiliated tax dodgers.
And the "GOP" is definitely not an entity entitled in any way to wail about the debt ceiling, that not only during the Trump disaster years they actively helped to skyrocket.
Not a single "Republican" ever publicly complained about the failed Mar-A-Loco "real estate developer" & insurrection inciter going golfing almost one whole year out of a four-year term, burning $145,000,000 of taxpayer money just for loafing at golf courses.
P.S.: It has always been the Dems, who put "GOP"-caused national debts & deficits back on sane tracks again.
