Spring is in the air in the Mojave! I happened to capture this image of a mating pair of Mojave desert tortoises (Gopherus agassizii) last weekend during a drone survey - a first! That's an active burrow to the left.

This is what a Mojave desert #tortoise (#Gopherus agassizii) looks like from 20 meters in the air. Imagine that there are 50-100 tortoises in 1,000,000 of these images and you have to find them all. That's what a #drone tortoise survey is.
