"One of the most disgusting things about modern politics is how little regard Republicans have for the long term damage that results from their short term political gambits. The most recent example: Ohio is seeing a shockingly large outbreak of measles, a disease that was almost unheard of a few years ago, because suddenly a bunch of parents won’t vaccinate their kids.

This is happening because Republicans gambled that if the COVID-19 pandemic persisted into 2022, voters would blame President Biden and Republicans would reap the rewards in the midterms. So they spread anti-vaccination propaganda, convincing their voters to forgo the shot. The gambit failed to turn people against Democrats, though it did kill a bunch of Republican voters. The midterms are over, but a huge chunk of Republicans now think all vaccines are evil. Their children are the ones paying the price."
