Even though I'm not the biggest fan of #GothamChess's content, especially now that I feel it's become more sensationalist, I can't help but recommend everyone to watch his recaps of the #NepoDing matches if you at any point are confused or want to see someone explain the fantastic thought and lines behind every move.
Sync chess. Don't worry, they only speak at the same time during the intro.
(Certainly I love how Chess has become popular with streaming š)

Found a way to tie a better opponent way behind in development- then a position where only giving up your queen. Found a knight move that hit king, rook, and queen at once. And the checkmate happened because white weakened their center and gave my queen huge power without me losing tempo and sctually moving it.
Iām about 725 Elo at this point. Anyone about 700-1000 want to play online, 24 hours per move or 10 minute rapid.

Levy sacks his 2 rooks for a mate
https://youtube.com/shorts/vfKIPdk-N7Q?feature=share
This is what I love about chess: Yes, it's a hard game, but sometimes the beauty of the positions themselves is worth playing it.
Some of the positions are simply beautiful, and sometimes you can see the genius of a player executing a plan and you see the events unfolding; other times a single genius move, a sacrifice of a queen or a rook, or a single mistake turns the tables completely; the evaluation bar turns from plus ten to minus eight to mate in 3. And sometimes you're about to get mated, the opponent makes a mistake, and you find a mate in 1 and go for it.
It's no longer about winning and losing, it's about the challenges, about finding an opportunity and exploiting it.
It's almost like hacking, but you don't have to subvert the rules in your favor. You just wait for the opponent to make a mistake, infiltrate your pieces, and boom. Checkmate.
Sometimes you mate with the queen; others with the rook, but in some cases you can even mate with a pawn.
Chess is a beautiful, beautiful game.

i'm specifically talking about this because the biggest chess youtuber, #gothamchess, put out a video about this exact situation. and his takeaway was "yeaaaaahjjj monopoly yadda yadda but the people are so nice so ut can't be that bad and more magnus! which is great!"
it's not. monopolies are never a good thing, ever. and i just couldn't let that stand. of course i'm preaching to the choir, fedi is full of foss enthusiasts who wouldn't touch chesscom with a ten foot pole. but it's still important to know that the market is essentially being cornered by a chess mega entity at this point, with lichess being not a lot more than a gallic village in the equation.
