I also rented 'The French Dispatch' a few weeks ago, and my deadline to watch it is coming at me fast. I held off on watching it as I wanted to save it for this moment, when I'm officially done with my WiP and am about to move on to a new one.

I'll be kicking back tomorrow to recoup all those lost brain cells and will be watching the movie at last (uninterrupted, too).

I think I’ve found a way to share my book’s listing in Libby - the library app.

There’s only one copy through the SA library network, but you should be able to put it on hold. Same for the US, I’m told.

If you were keen to read it but couldn’t afford to buy, please do borrow it. It’s just a story I’d love people to read. As a kid, libraries are where I lived most of the time. Libraries deserve our love.

I'm on a roll with the revisions and edits, actually, which means I held off on working on a new chapter for 'The House of Ash'. We'll see how this weekend plays itself out, but it's safer to say I'll get on the ball with that book next weekend at the latest.

Anyway, as mentioned in my previous toot, I've got some updates regarding next year's calendar.

I know it's rather early to talk about what's next, but the story bug continues to chew my bony behind, and I'm not one to say no when inspiration strikes.

The gap between releases is wider, though -- five months in between instead of four, which is better for my mental and physical health. That said, if I really wanted to take better care of myself, I'd go six months, which I've been on the fence over for a while now. I should be making a final decision after 'The Heart of Ameinias' releases this June.

The books will continue to alternate, i.e., there'll be one for the 'Ghosts and Tea' series and one for 'Grotesqueries' regardless of what calendar I decide on. At any rate, 2024's already planned out, and the banner's got new cover art and titles.

Just like writing, I'm a weekend warrior on Mastodon. Very excited about this one and the others coming after it because I'm revising one book and will be working on the other WIP, which is halfway done. :apartyblobcat:

And from one humorous ghost story, it's a shift to gothic vampire fiction. Must dust off my Nox Arcana collection for appropriate music to listen to for 'The House of Ash'.

Started 2023 by completing the first round of edits and revisions. 'Primavera' now stands at exactly 50K words, which is my cutoff for my ideal long novella length. I've got the rest of the month to polish this further, and the release date of Feb. 1 is solid.

As an atheist, I still mine my Catholic background for inspiration. Really, problems with organized religion aside, Roman Catholicism is an absolute treasure trove o' stuff to inspire anyone with a thing for all things gothic. The rituals, the traditions, all the Latin prayers and hymns, all the patron saints (and especially how they were martyred)? Yes, please. Hell, I'm jonesing to write a gothic novella about cephalophores. Because why not?
