I haven't been a huge Ozzy listener since when I was young like some, but these lyrics are amazing. Then I saw that it was recently released. Bauhaus released their first single, “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” ⚰️
What an amazing first release. Absolutely foundational to the “goth” genre of music. It was the first thing the band recorded together, only six weeks after the band had formed. And it was recorded in a single take too 🤯
I can’t recall where I first heard this, probably in junior high around ‘83, there were a few cool goths in my school, but I do recall being psyched for a song about one of my favorite “monster movie” actors. And Peter Murphy’s voice is unforgettable.
This is now a staple of any good Halloween mix 🎃
