People who use "cringe" as an adjective ("that is so cringe") make me cringe.

Also today I have spent some time - Don Quixote style - shouting "It's a railway station" at "This way to the train station" signs.

Warning! Grammar rant!

One of my biggest bugbears is the extent to which social media posts/headlines from various MSM outlets employ horrendous grammar. Does no-one understand how to write a proper sentence any more? Does no-one check what is going out under the names of these publishers/broadcasters?

Ends rant

I of decided that I won’t let SM posts that use ‘of’ and ‘have’ incorrectly bother me anymore. In fact, I’m going to join them. Why? Because I of had enough have it.

@purplequeennl As in . And my youngest (my 7th) is 21 and I’ll still watch by myself. . Don’t think I mentioned in my profile. Or . My youngest daughter bought me a mug: I am silently correcting you grammar. And used my youngest’s stick tape to mark out “silently.”

Dr. Dre used "comprise" correctly.
Truly an inspiration.

This could be so much worse. I mean, "you're" could go right there in the last line.

@michellepostoncombs Jumping in here with my hat, if you didn't write "literally," the sentence would still make sense.

@emilyherring The letter L is important, or you'd be Emiy. How would we pronounce that?

I will never get used to police on the news using present perfect rather than past simple to describe something that happened in the past; eg saying “The helicopter’s blade has struck the other aircraft” rather than “The helicopter’s blade struck the other aircraft.”

Present perfect is used to describe something that started in the past and is still happening in the present, whereas past simple is used to describe an action finished in the past. The latter is the right choice for describing events that are clearly completed.

What is the English translation of what you are trying to say?

Thanks.

@aprettyaday

It is not correct English to say "less happier."

That is the equivalent of saying:
Less more happy.

It does not sound right in English, and grammatically, it is not correct.

If you don't agree, that's ok. We can agree to disagree on this.

Wishing you a Happy New Year!

@aprettyaday

For ex, in French, would you say:

moins mieux
or
moins heureux

(both are outright wrong, in both languages.)
