#GrandCentral nochmal am Abend.
Und dann ist es wie in Deutschland: spätabends keine #LIRR mehr von Grand Central wegen Weichenarbeiten. Also mit dem Subway-Shuttle nach Penn Station fahren und von dort fahren. Der Shuttle ist aufgrund der Kürze der Strecke auf Stehen ausgelegt.

Zum Einsteigen in den Zug verlässt man dann den Hochglanzbereich. #GrandCentral #MetroNorth Die Züge sind fürs Sitzen ausgelegt - man möchte den Pendlern kein Stehen zumuten. In der Rush Hour fahren natürlich auch hier jede Menge Extra-Züge mit komplizierten Express-Schemen.

Vor dem Einstieg bei #MetroNorth müssen natürlich noch die obligatorischen Fotos vom #GrandCentral Terminal gemacht werden. Wenn man sich hier umschaut, werden bestimmt 500 Fotos pro Minute von der Halle gemacht.

Am nächsten Tag geht es zur Abwechslung nach dem Strand in die Berge. Erst mit der #LIRR ins neue #GrandCentral Terminal. Eine Hochglanzstation tief unter der Erde mit 8 Gleisen neben und übereinander. Ganz frisch erst im Jahr 2023 fertiggestellt, ermöglicht sie es, von Long Island mit einem Umstieg ins Hudson Valley zu kommen. Die Baukosten waren auch nicht ohne: 11 Mrd. US-$ inkl. Zufahrtsstrecke.

The most luxurious bar in #NewYorkCity? That just might be The Campbell Apartment located in a train terminal...#GrandCentral.
John W. Campbell, a #Jazz Age financier, and a board member of the NY Central Railroad, converted the space in 1923 to his private office and reception hall, which resembled a galleried hall of a 13th-century Florentine palace.
After falling into disrepair, the space was restored and renovated in 1999.
