There's a good reason why Lower Calf Creek Falls hike is one of the most popular in Grand Staircase Escalante. Besides being relatively easy the 7 mile round trip trail winds its way through a scenic wide canyon following Calf Creek. What's not to love about a beaver pond and wetlands with water birds in the middle of the desert? Also a walk through geologic time dating to 175 million years ago.

We went out for the #Lyrid meteor shower last week and set up cameras to take shots in about 16 second intervals. I chose about 16 of them to blend together with some of the brighter meteors it captured and this is what I ended up with.

I made the most of the nice weather and days off this week and ventured into the desert where everything is beautiful. These photos were just taken with a phone. It was a dusty hike so the camera stayed home. The colors and patterns in the slot canyons here are so amazing.
