Oh man. This episode of The Sweeney doesn’t just feature Patrick Troughton, it also has a certain distinguished gentleman playing a schoolteacher… #tv #CultTV #GrangeHill #MichaelSheard #DoctorWho

In Grange Hill Tucker had a friend who looked a bit like Bea Smith from Prisoner Cell Block H. What was his name?

Bit more Grange Hill (I’m poorly, it’s the holidays)

The similarity between the endings of series 10 of Grange Hill (Zammo's final appearance) and of Ingmar Bergman's "The Seventh Seal" is striking.

Grange Hill could sometimes be ahead of the times, as this scene from 1987 shows.

A vague sense of existential angst sweeps through the corridors of #GrangeHill

Great charity shop find - the novel of 1975 kids drama “Striker” by Kenneth Cope (yes, that one) - if I recall correctly another example of pre-Grange Hill gritty drama for children.
The lead character lived in a caravan with his Dad, who I seem to remember was a former professional footballer who lost his career through injury.

1985: Roland from Grange Hill and his French girlfriend Francine go to see a Chantal Akerman film with no subtitles
2022: Chantal Akerman tops the Sight And Sound poll
Coincidence? I don't think so!

My new favourite #GrangeHill character - I wish we'd seen more of Imelda Davis' brassy, belligerent, chain-smoking mother in her fabulous burgundy leather jacket, blue leather trousers and yellow stilettos. Iconic!
Sadly she only appears in a single episode, in which Imelda is expelled.
I didn't have "musical about Berlusconi written by Ant Jones and Freddie Mainwaring from Grange Hill" on my 2023 theatre bingo card but there you go!

When they did the radio station storyline in series 10 of Grange Hill, decorating the studio with posters of Radio 1 DJs probably seemed like a good idea at the time
Even the characters don’t seem too impressed with the Harriet the Donkey storyline in series 10 of #GrangeHill
In other #totp 1977 news: #TomRobinsonBand was Cathy Hargreaves from #GrangeHill's favourite band. Presumably she was watching this episode.
