A few grapes 🍇 alas small ones from the #grapevines this year. Not truly ripe though. They are #ConcordGrapes but they don’t seem to ripen properly here or they get eaten by squirrels (or me 😂 ) too soon. Not sure. But yesterday there were two dark ones and those tasted just like Concord #grapes 😋 . So I know it’s possible 😊

Winter in #California #wine country is such a different color palette from the summer of deep greens and golds The hillsides are brilliantly yellow-green, the vines dark brown, and the sky an indescribable blue. My favorite season here.

Looked up techniques to stimulate #budbreak in #grapevines. Apparently garlic extract applied on the freshly pruned tips can help. Grated and strained a few cloves to try this. 🧄🍇

Hmm, the #grapevines cuttings are taking their sweet time with #budbreak. Only one has a fully green bud going to leaf, the rest are still wee "cotton buds".

Yesterday I was layering some vines. It’s probably the cheapest and fastest way to produce a replacement or to fill a gap. The buds along the cane will produce roots during the winter. Once the new vine us self sufficient it can be removed from the parent vine. #grapevines #englishwine #propogation
