I've always respected Nicola Sturgeon as a leader. She's not perfect but her leadership style shows that you can exude competence while also demonstrating compassion.

You don't need to trade these things off as if they're fundamental opposites. They're not.

i say this as an independence supporter but...

the endless, bottomless cowerdess of the independence movement knows no bounds and the attempts to write trans people out of something that is an assault against them and that could end up leading to the uk splitting up is an astounding example.

The main issue people like #SoniaSodah claim to have is that BAD MEN will use the #GRAReform as a way to hurt women. But men already hurt women. Every single day! Trans people are statistically more likely to be VICTIMS of crime (by the same bad men) so it makes no sense for them to carry the can for the bad men. THE BAD MEN ARE THE PROBLEM! Trans people just want to get on with their lives in peace. We wouldn't expect women to carry the can for what bad men do!

According to The Times, Rishi Sunak is "poised" to deny royal assent to the Scottish gender recognition bill passed by a strong majority at Holyrood, based on legal advice he has obtained—or solicited.

This would be a vicious attack against both trans rights and devolution.

The Scottish government is expected to denounce it as interference and use it as a further argument for independence.
