So yesterday I had my first venture to watch live football since before the COVID19 lockdowns. Grays Athletic entertained Tilbury in a local derby at Aveley’s Parkside ground in a match affectionately known by supporters of both teams as ‘El Chavico’ with Grays running out 2-0 winners.

After the intrusion of VAR and West Ham United’s move to the London Stadium the love of footy that had died within me has started to be rekindled #GrassRootsFootball #NonLeague #Football #GraysAthletic #ElChavico

It's been a tough winter for #grassrootsfootball and having games called off.

In recent weeks we've had snow, waterlogged pitch, hail storms/high winds, frozen pitch.

Unless you have access to a 4g pitch, training is almost impossible to avoid cutting up the grass.

Then when we can finally play, we get on the road at 8:30 on Sunday morning only to find the opposition team doesn't have enough players. 😩

Can't remember a season like it! Just dreaming of those sunny, crisp spring mornings!

#grassrootsfootball Not a good start for my local team Ebbsfleet United in todays National League South fixture away to local rivals Dartford fc with a 0-4 defeat which followed a 4-1 defeat in the reverse fixture on Boxing Day. Dartford are now top of the table six points clear of Ebbsfleet who have slipped to 3rd . A good crowd for this level with an attendance of 3,300
