Been thinking of #Twitter's name change to #X & how it represents a certain (anti-)aesthetic of stripping away all character & charm from things. Uniform gray concrete, polished steel, smooth white plastic, black glass; the same black or gray suits; everyone & everything conforming to the same bland, lifeless gray; no fun, no creativity, no variety. No cute mascots or fun names, just a single letter. Not even a whimsical font.
I think that's the real #GrayGoo. Not nanobots but people like Musk.
#GregBear died. The only book I read from him (so far) was #BloodMusic, and its #GrayGoo ending has haunted me a bit ever since. https://gizmodo.com/obituary-greg-bear-sci-fi-author-1849806303/amp
