I had some chores to do today but as I was passing Aylesbeare Common I thought I'd have a quick walk.
As I was snapping a Grayling butterfly I saw a movement behind it - a Common Lizard! Plenty of #Grayling about as well as Gatekeeper.

The lady of the stream, grayling. With its grace, elegance and style this freshwater fish is a true beauty and I have a particular soft spot for filming it. They have amazing eyesight and use that with pin point accuracy when feeding in fast water. They are very susceptible to pollution due to having small livers.

Spring grayling on the river wharfe.
Lady of the stream always puts on one of the most beautiful displays in spring with that highly coloured dorsal fin. Generally found in the slightly faster waters but are quite adaptable in slower water too, they are a real treat to see and film.
