When I was young, a #RedSquirrel we named "Mr. McTavish" used to eat out of my hand. He would wait for me after school, and when I took too long coming out with his breakfast, he would climb our screen door.

He was one of the last #RedSquirrels in my northern #Illinois town. They had been pushed out by grays. It made me wonder why #GraySquirrels dominated some areas & reds in others. It's good to see that mystery in #nature solved.
