This is Sarah “Sally” Brown Goodell, my #greatgreatgreatgreatgrandmother. She was born in 1802 and died in 1864 in Illinois. Her son John Brown Goodell left in 1846 on a #wagontrain heading for Oregon. He lived at #Champoeg, where the first provisional government of Oregon was organized, and was buried in the cemetery there. I grew up not far away, in Salem, the current state capital. I am descended from another son, James, who served in the 55th Illinois Infantry during the #CivilWar.
