The Concord River has flooded, and both ends of the dike trail that cross the impound are under water. A mostly #silentsunday at #greatmeadows with only the calls of geese, red-winged blackbirds, swans, mallards, wood ducks, goldeneyes, chickadee, song sparrows. The beaver lodge has been there for ages. There used to be lots of muskrat push-ups, but they have disappeared over the last 2 years. #getoutside #getoutdoors #notabirder

Pretty good cast of characters for our late afternoon walk around the impound at the #greatmeadows : eagle, mergansers, golden-eye, mallards, red-winged blackbirds, mute swans, one beaver. Finally back to #greatmeadows where red-winged blackbirds are showing up in numbers, but even more beautiful are the mute swans. Here, 2 males move off after getting no reciprocation from their advances on the female. #swans #matingseason #getoutside
