An important leg, Glass-Steagall, which #regulated #banks was partially #repealed under #clinton. Within a decade, the #greatrecession hit. This was not a #coincidence. Every #economic system requires some degree of #regulation to operate optimally. #doddfrank was a step in the right direction, but IMO somewhat more is required.

Maybe the Fed should see what it can do about #pricegouging and #StockBuybacks

I actually started a brokerage acct in 2007 just before the #GreatRecession. The stock market took a massive dump, losing over 50%, but look at it now. You've more than made up for the losses if you just stayed in and kept investing.
So it's important for young people to try and #invest early on. The big hurdle though is making enough money to invest. I know I didn't have the spare cash in my 20s.
