The magnificant and distinctive French Renaissance style clock tower on the former Cooper's Building on Great Western Road in the west end of Glasgow. Designed by R Duncan, it was built in 1886.

Cooper's Building, Great Western Road, Glasgow.
Built in 1886 in the French Renaissance Style from a design by R Duncan, this building originally housed the Glasgow branch of Cooper and Co, one of Scotland's leading grocery shop chains.

The distinctive classical lines of Alexander 'Greek' Thomson's Great Western Terrace in the west end of Glasgow. Completed in 1877, this was one of his final works, and only eight of the eleven houses were built before he died in 1875.

The many wonderful arches of Grosvenor Terrace in the west end of Glasgow. Built in 1855 to a design by JT Rochead. Much of this terrace was gutted by a fire in 1978 and was rebuit to the original facade design in 1980.

Looking up the River Kelvin through one of the main arches of the Great Western Bridge in Glasgow. Designed by Bell and Miller and opened in 1891, it's primarily built of cast iron.
It's only from underneath that you can really appreciate the engineeeing which has gone into this bridge and kept it standing for more than 130 years

The entrace to St Mary's Cathedral on Great Western Road in Glasgow.
Completed in 1893, it was designed by Sir Gilbert Scott, who also designed the nearby main building of Glasgow University in a similar Gothic Revival style.

This morning's blue skies over Gartnavel Royal Hospital in Glasgow.
Opened in 1843 and designed by the architect Charles Wilson, Gartnavel Royal Lunatic Asylum (as it was then known) sits on a hill above the west end of Glasgow and casts an imposing presence across this part of the city to this day.
