One of the ornately carved zodiac-themed column capitals on the Sun Life Building on West George Street in Glasgow. Not too sure what the faces are all about, but I think they're Green Men.

5 days volunteering at the Greenman festival, 5 after to clean the aftermath.
Returned with car loaded with goodies recovered from the- yes - rubbish, including 4 tents, 7 litres of wine, a score cans of beer of various types, 4 deck chairs, sleeping bag.... odds and ends.
Donated to a neighbor a chair a tent and a Halfords gas cooker. At the festival, donated 18 cans of Carling to a truck driver, who was picking up large containers, man gave me a lift in the truck

to the tent to get said lot.
Got enough drink to last a couple of months... effort tiring but enjoyable, what with some seriously decent rock, live and free....

I'm very much not a festival person so don't have much to report, though I am tempted to write a blog post with some brief observations about their "Einstein's Garden" (the festival's #science communication area) on the simultaneously heartening and infuriating fact that #mathematics was in a state of superposition: it existed within many of the things on show, but nevertheless remained unrepresented.

43 followers · 226 posts · Server kolektiva.socialWOW! Just... WOW! am stretched out in the tent at the festival, it's pouring like there is no tomorrow, on the stage 300 meters away, a band is playing stunning prog rock.
As the storm progresses, rain slashes and drizzles wind blows and turns direction, so does the sound, like moving back and forth, changing intensity, volume, at times actually in time with bits of storm, and it's beautiful.
What a fantastic show.

Looking back at old photographs and there's that I had sketched this #greenman from a book of old carvings found in UK churches.
The green man has always been a source of fascination for me over the years.
There are numerous claims and counter claims from both #pagan and #Christian perspectives; but I think he is the calm embodiment of the fecundity of #nature and represents the inevitable circle and cycle of life.
I may get round to doing a proper painting one of these days.

Love this Green Man style mask on the keystone of an arched window on 11 Renfield Street in Glasgow. This building was originally built as a warehouse in 1858, but was altered in the 1890s and 1900s by J.J. Burnet. I presume this mask was added at this time as similar faces are found on many other Glasgow buildings from this period.

Love this Green Man style figure on Fyfe Chambers at 105 West George Street in Glasgow. It's unusual for the Green Man to be presented in profile rather than facing forward.

Did you know that the invitation includes the #GreenMan, a figure from #British #mythology?
#Artist Andrew Jamieson included it as a #symbol for the new reign, as the Green Man stands for #rebirth.
The motif contains leaves of ivy, oak, & hawthorn, which are the emblematic plants of the #UK.
There are also wildflowers all over, all in sets of 3, as Charles is the third of his name.
Quite pretty!
