Our very first (and probably last) outdoor grown tomatoes this year.

Seeing as the autumn has decided to muscle in to what we always thought was summer, I am resorting to the banana ripening trick.

Wish me and them luck.

Pulled out the tomatoes yesterday, as the weather is getting colder and they won’t have time to ripen. MiL took a lot of green tomatoes for chutney last week. I like to make green tomato curry with them. (Though I had one green tomato curry come out bitterly inedible; thanks to a helper too many smaller bitter ones ended up in it 😅 Tip: If you’re not sure if one is mature enough, do a little taste test before popping it in so you don’t ruin the dish. ) #gardening #greentomatoes

Tricky little devils, those #tomatoes. Had a freeze coming, so went out & picked my #GreenTomatoes. Made hamburgers; sliced up green ones; they were DELICIOUS on top. Juicy, tangy-- you know that zing. After, looked for recipes, discovered raw green tomatoes are poison!! Who knew? 🍅🍅🍅 😊But--- really hard to eat enough to make one sick. 😊 Looking forward to next slice😊Living on the wild side (yeah, right 🤣🤣)

Picked the last of my tomatoes, zinnias, and strawflowers over the weekend before the big chill hit this morning. I had my best tomato year ever in 10 years of trying. Now what should I do with all these green ones?
