The #climatecrisis & its associated erratic #weather have caused floods across low lying river basins, but elsewhere have deliver #drought conditions.

In #Germany, this has promoted a further decline in #river borne #freight & a move to utilise the roads for #supplychain & #logistics networks.

Its ironic that #climatechange is prompting a shift that make emissions worse, by reducing use of an established #greentransport.

It's weird how relying on personal transport (driving there directly) tends to make me late, while public transport tends to make me arrive ridiculously early.

Whatever went on at #BritishVolt, the UK's lack of projected #battery capacity says something about our continuing failure to organise in sectors that involve anything other than opportunities for #rentiers (some would argue BritishVolt's problems stem from its existence as a farm for taxpayer support)... we need to invest in the future not in our elites' pleasures & profits

Went to the supermarket on my bike today. A lot quicker than a car. Easier to park.

The only thing is that here in #Lincolnshire #UK I don't see anyone else going on a bike. It is not seen as 'normal'.

The irony is that the local council spend a fair amount of money on #bikepaths which are unusable. Just up the way there is a bike crossing which is dangerous & unusable, but the works must have cost the best part of a £1million to install.

In 2022 (in a sector beset by #supplychain problems reducing supply), #electric #cars outsold #diesel cars for the first time, with e-cars making up 16.6% of all new car registrations while diesel dipped to around 10%....

If this is part of the answer to reaching #netzero then we should be happy... the question is whether the #climatecrisis is beyond a shift in automotive transport?
