Amerikaans gitarist en mede-oprichter, samen met zijn jongere broer #GreggAllman, van de band #TheAllmanBrothers. De broers speelden al samen in de band #TheHourglass.
Hij wordt genoemd als één van de beste gitaristen ooit, met als hoogtepunt het album The Allman Brothers Band at Fillmore East.
Op 29 oktober 1971 heeft hij een ongeluk met zijn motor en overleeft de klap tegen een truck die plots stopt niet

"Melissa" (sometimes called "Sweet Melissa") is a song by American rock band #theAllmanBrothersBand, released in August 1972 as the second single from the group's fourth album, #EatAPeach. The song was written by vocalist #GreggAllman in 1967, well before the founding of the group. Two #demoVersions from those years exist, including a version cut by #the31stOfFebruary, a band that featured #ButchTrucks, the Allman Brothers' later drummer.
