Visited my mother today. Her garden is growing beautifully. Native plants are flourishing. Kangaroo Paws were hard to photograph. They are naturally flurry / blurry. Grevillea flowers are one of many on the plant.

A widely grown prostrate cultivar of the #Australian Native Grevillea Lanigera, it grows and flowers vigorously and is attractive to #birds and #insects.
And it's pretty, as well.

#GrevilleaRhyolitica, commonly known as Deua grevillea or Deua flame, is a species of flowering plant native to south-eastern New South Wales.
It is a more or less erect shrub with elliptic leaves and hairy red flowers.
And their flowers are out to play atm!
A bunch of them here in #clayton #Australia have been cut back due to encroaching on the roadway. But this one was spared!

#WoollyGrevillea is just a stunning floral specimen, don’t you think?
#Grevillea comes in so many shapes, sizes and forms.
This spreading shrub with narrowly linear leaves and clusters of pink to red, and cream-coloured flowers, are simply a delight.
So healthy too.
This species is endemic to south-eastern Australia

You may recall this smallish, sad and dehydrated #grevillea from yesterday. It hasn’t rained (sufficiently) for the past fortnight, so many reserve flora are starting to feel the pinch.
As suggested by @gr8nanjan (thx Nan Jan!!) I drove past midday today and poured around 1.2 litres at the base of this plant (was 32 degrees c, 90F, sun high in the sky) and revisited it around 6pm after work.
The first 2 shots are from midday… the bottom 2 pics are from 6pm.
Amazing what a small amount of water can do to help these #Australian #natives bounce back.
The flowers look more abundant, for mine, and back to some semblance of hydration normality.
It was around mid 33 degrees (92F) the time of these evening pics, sun was lower in the sky. Around 2 hours from sunset.
Was it due to less intensity of sunlight and the plant had recovered by redistributing moisture from its leaves (later in the day)… or was it due to the relative meagrely amount of water it received?
Uncertain (I’m not a botanist!), but was an intriguing exercise!
Any thoughts or botanist expertise welcomed!
Gave it another 1.2 litres of water just for good measure!

This little #grevillea is looking a little worse for wear, a bit dehydrated and deflated.
But hanging in there stoically as they often do late in the summer cycle and the #Australian heat!
There are many of these about Melbs showing off their reds (some pinkish) and I just love them.

This gorgeous #grevillea was snapped in #Kew #Australia last night, post sunset.
The photos really bring out its gorgeous detail and colouring.
Pics are from a few little shrubby bushes that have been flowering for over 6 weeks now and I’ve been keeping an eye on their development.
Some are going brown and will die off soon, however this selection were superb!
Very #Australian, extremely pretty.
Notice how some are still unfurling (like the fronds of a fern)?
