Apartheid-era minister #AdriaanVlok died today. He famously went about washing black people’s feet in apology for his crimes. This is the text of a talk I gave in 2014 on why I would not let him wash mine. The talk was part of the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation's exploration of the idea of radical reconciliation. I was perhaps more hopeful back then.
