Soaked a variety of hot chili seeds in the water today. Will be planting them tomorrow. Our gardening season is almost here—time to start seeds every week. Babies will stay in the shade on the patio because it’s too hot to be out in the direct sun yet. Too wet too.

Took the scenic route to the crops garden. While weeding, I heard KaBOOM. 2nd time in a week, but neither time while on the road. Faulty tire. Harvested arugula and spinaches.

eBiked to the garden...pic is of kales. Planted 3 types beets (late on this), 4 types carrots, weeded, watered, harvested mounds of spinach. Stopped for a few errands on the way home. Such a pleasant way to get around.

88°F during golden hour at the crops garden. Here are softneck garlics in the foreground and hardnecks in the background. Didn't plant as many last fall as previous years so more room at the ends of the row for onions and arugula.

Rain is promised, temps are moderate so great time to transplant, except the water hasn't been turned on at the crops garden so I'm hauling two 5 gallon containers each visit. The pic is winterbor and starboard kale. Also transplanted all of the lettuces and arugulas, the onions, the leeks, the collards and the broccoli.

Garlics planted last Nov are emerging thru the leaf mulch. Some of the spinach that wintered over under row cover is doing OK.

Lettuces, brassicas, onions all out for fresh air today. Over at the crops garden, we'll begin to harvest spinach next week, the leek trench and the pea trench are ready, and I turned half of the rows that had winter cover crop.
