We did a nice 30 mile bike ride on the Guadalupe River walk and bike path which runs along San Jose CA yesterday. I was surprised at how nice the trail is and how pretty the river is for the most part.

At one spot there must have been over 100 geese in the river.

The path seen in the geese photo must be a fire road. The actual bike and walking path is paved and on the levee.

The Guadalupe River main-stem is an urban, northward flowing 14 miles river in California whose much longer head-water creeks originate in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Driving all over the South Bay area this morning and I am not liking what I'm seeing. The is really high compared to yesterday. And it was high then.

Under normal circumstances, the Guadalupe River is a small stream. Under drought conditions it's barely a creek.

This river runs through the middle of downtown San Jose. Hoping that all of the improvements made will save the neighborhoods next to it down there.

Because each river is different—and every river changes depending on the time or temp or season or light—you’re always learning something new. It’s one of the things that makes angling a lot like appellate work.
