The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) has adopted final Guidelines on calculating administrative fines. These aim to standardize the approach used by data protection authorities (DPAs) and include 'starting points' for fines. Key considerations include infringement categorization, severity and business turnover. The 5-step methodology accounts for multiple violations, aggravating/mitigating factors, legal limits and effectiveness.
